The journey to soft terry cloth begins when you buy it. Whether you're shopping in a brick-and-mortar store or online, look not only at the price, size, and color of towels and bath towels, but also at their weight. This is a fairly key criterion. It's best if your towels and other terry cloth have a weight of 450 g/m2 or higher. It is more expensive, but the higher the quality, the longer your towels will last.
How to wash terry towels
Once you have quality towels at home, the key question arises: how to wash terry towels properly? Or even better: how to wash hard terry towels and how to wash terry towels and bath towels so that they are soft?
Just as important as the quality of the towels is, the quality and quantity of detergent is also crucial. In the case of terry towels, it should be designed for washing cotton. It should be put in the washing machine in moderation. Avoid excessive use of detergent. The powder can settle in the fibers, which will "stick together" and will definitely not be soft and fluffy.
Factory softener is not suitable for terry towels either. Instead, use white vinegar. This will remove any detergent or fabric softener residue. Half a cup is enough. White vinegar is a possible solution if you are wondering how to soften hard terry towels. It is still possible to "save" them. If they are hard and rough, soak them in a warm solution of citric acid. Ideally overnight and then wash them. The appropriate temperature for washing towels is from 40 to a maximum of 60 °C. Higher temperatures damage the material and affect the fluffiness of the terry.
You can also add baking soda to the washing machine. It also helps remove odors from towels.
Store until perfectly dry
Store towels in the closet that are really dry. This will prevent the formation of an unpleasant odor and, above all, the spread of bacteria and mold. Towels like air. After washing, shake them to loosen their fibers and hang them on a line or drying rack so that air can flow freely between them. Let them dry, preferably outside or in a well-ventilated place.
